aMember WordPress Integration: Content Protection using ViewLevel2

There is a newer article on WordPress + aMember integration here.

Once you have aMember installed you must also have the WordPress plugin turned on in your aMember admin panel, as well as altered your wp-config.php file (see How to Integrate aMember and WordPress) before taking the following steps.

  1. Download ViewLevel2 and install the plugin on your site. Be sure to activate the plugin.
  2. In your aMember admin panel click ‘Manage Products’ and choose a product to edit.
  3. On the aMember product page scroll down to ‘WordPress Level’ and insert a value of 1 or greater.amember-roles.gif
  4. In your WordPress admin panel select a post to edit.
  5. On the ‘edit post/page’ screen scroll down to ‘Custom Fields’. Under ‘Key’ enter the text viewlevel and under ‘Value’ enter the same number you used in the aMember product page.viewlevel-custom-field.gif

For additional tiers of membership simply create additional aMember products with greater ‘WordPress Level’ values and assign appropriate ‘viewlevel’ values in your WordPress posts.

For example, if you have both Basic and Premium membership levels, you could create the Basic aMember product with a ‘WordPress Level’ of 1 and a Premium aMember product with a ‘WordPress Level’ of 2.

In this scenario, all posts with a ‘viewlevel’ of 1 would be viewable by both Basic and Premium members, whereas posts with a ‘viewlevel’ of 2 would only be viewable by Premium members.

When you are testing, be sure that you are not logged in to your WordPress or aMember admin panels if you are trying to see what things look like to public users.
